Kuningan The botanical gardens in Indonesia



Kuningan Botanical Garden was officially launched on Wednesday (25/11). 
The launch was marked by the signing of an inscription by the Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Prof. Dr. Ir. Iskandar Zulkarnaen with the Regent of Kuningan, Hj. Utje Ch Suganda, followed by tree planting and review of the entire area of ​​Kebun Raya Kuningan.This is the third botanical garden that has been launched in Indonesia. Interestingly, the Botanical Garden Brass is also considered as the most unique botanical gardens in Indonesia because it has thematic rocks. Meanwhile, in the inscription LIPI Chairman inscribed "Botanical Brass part of the Citadel of Biodiversity Rescue", while in the inscription of Regent Kuningan written "Brass Botanical Garden as the Realization of Conservation District".

LIPI chairman Iskandar Zulkarnaen said the rapid development process poses a severe threat to biodiversity specimens, thus encouraging the establishment of botanical gardens in the area to save endemic specimens in the region while providing education, research and recreation that can generate community's economy. "The botanical garden is a solution to the problem of conservation and issues of community empowerment in the future," Iskandar said during the launch of the Kuningan Botanical Garden on Wednesday (25/11).

Mentioned Iskandar, Botanical Garden Brass is a third botanical garden which was launched after the Regional Botanical Gardens in South Sulawesi and the Botanical Garden Region in Balikpapan Kalimatan. "Kuningan Botanical Garden is the most unique of other botanical gardens because it has thematic rocks, and this is not in other botanical gardens in Indonesia," explained Iskandar.Meanwhile, the Regent of Kuningan, Hj. Utje Ch Suganda hopes that with the launching of this Botanical Garden Brass can give positive impact for all people of Kuningan Regency.

"Not only local impacts on the regional situation will at least help 45% of protected areas in West Java. While the national impact of the existence of collections of trees in it will serve as a granary of oxygen and absorption of carbon dioxide in order to decrease greenhouse emission gas, "said Utje.With the launch of the Botanical Garden of Kuningan as the only botanical gardens in West Java Province, Utje said, then its existence will become an icon for the people of West Java following the predecessor of the Bogor Botanical Gardens and Cibodas Botanical Garden. Head of Kuningan and Perkebunan Kuningan Office, Bunbun Budhiyasa added that Kuningan Botanical Garden is located on a land of about 154 hectares, recorded until 2014 has been registered about 23,000 specimens of plants.
